Providing Excellent Service to Residents

We’re periodically featuring the hardworking staff members who provide excellent service to residents. Learn more about how we’re improving residents’ homes and becoming a better landlord through their perspective. In this installment, meet Matt Dixon, Senior Project Manager in the Capital Projects Division:

“As a senior project manager, I oversee a team that completes capital projects designed to improve, repair, and restore NYCHA properties and improve the quality of life for residents.

“My team was recognized recently for restoring elevator service at Throggs Neck Houses ahead of schedule. This required structural concrete repairs of beams and columns inside the elevator shaft and motor room bulkheads. We worked with a great team that included property management, elevator repair, structural engineering, and environmental staff. We obtained permits that enabled us to work extended shifts to complete the work more efficiently and expeditiously.

“Other notable projects that I’ve been involved with include Sandy recovery work, roof replacements funded by Mayor de Blasio, and entranceway work at Sedgwick Houses that received an interior design award from the New York State Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The repair and replacement of heating, electrical, and plumbing systems also makes an immediate difference for residents.

“I recently celebrated my 30th anniversary with NYCHA. In my career at the Authority, I have served as a supervisor of building maintenance, construction project manager, area supervisor, project manager, and deputy director of the Bronx/Queens Program Unit.

“Although our work is challenging, it’s also extremely rewarding. I have amazing colleagues who work hard to deliver improvements and essential services to residents.”
