NYCHA’s Runners Club Participates in 2023 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge
On June 1, members of the NYCHA Runners and Walkers Club joined thousands of runners and walkers from across the city for the 2023 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Central Park. The 3.5-mile race, established in 1977, is the world’s largest corporate running event.
More than 20,000 runners from over 500 companies participated in the two-day event. NYCHA’s team of 21 participants included Runners Club President Ramon Lugo and Chief Operating Officer Eva Trimble.
Created 33 years ago, the Runners Club has been participating in the corporate challenge for 31 years.
“We always look forward to this race because it brings us all together, people from all locations – from the central office and from the field,” said Runners Club President Ramon Lugo, who is a Certified LAN Administrator at NYCHA. “We support each other to go the extra mile, the extra step. We normally think one step at a time – that is our motto.”
“It’s so great to be here with colleagues enjoying some moments out of work and getting a good sweat on,” said Chief Operating Officer Eva Trimble. “Being part of the NYCHA running team gives you some motivation to get out there and keep running or walking. It’s great to keep that motivation, to keep going and find peers to do something you love with.”
“I have probably run the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge as co-chair more than anyone at NYCHA,” said Rico Velez, Business Promotion Coordinator in the Customer Operations Department. “Running the race is exhilarating – even more so with the NYCHA team.”
Other NYCHA staff who participated in the race included Agnieszka Sulewski, Andre Cirilo, Anna Czerobska, Bunitaa Butts, Cyril Jose, Franklin Ramos, Julie Zhu, Kamil Duzynski, Kevin Egan, Kinta Dokunbo, Kirsten Jardine, Latasha Battle, Michael Deutsch, Nora Donnelly, Rajbir Kaur, Robin Yudkovitz, Roger Shield, and Zahra Mollaahmad.
