Employees Celebrated for Work Order Reform Service

This month, NYCHA employees in Queens and Staten Island were recognized for their efforts and contributions toward the successful implementation of the Authority’s new Work Order Reform program.

With lunch celebrations at West Brighton Houses on April 4 and Queensbridge Houses on April 18, staff were treated to pizza and refreshments as well as visits by NYCHA leadership, who thanked the employees for their hard work to help improve services for residents. Chief Operating Officer Daniel Sherrod also commended the staff while meeting with workers during a tour of the West Brighton development.

The new program revamps the work order scheduling process, requiring that all necessary work orders for a resident’s request be made simultaneously on-site during the first maintenance visit. In addition, the program decentralizes skilled trades jobs by stationing the workers at a specific consolidation or “neighborhood.” After rolling out across Queens and Staten Island late last year, the program launched in the Bronx in March, and it will be in place across the city by the end of the year.
