Providing Excellent Service to Residents
We’re periodically featuring the hardworking men and women who provide excellent service to residents. Learn more about how we’re improving residents’ homes and becoming a better landlord through their perspective. In this installment, meet Dana Hylton, a NYCHA Exterminator since 2012:
My goal is to improve the quality of life for all residents. I conduct inspections and treatment of apartments, stair halls, basements, common areas, and grounds. Baiting, trapping, monitoring, and ‘burrow harassment’ are some of the methods we use to reduce the population of rodents and other pests. I take the initiative to educate residents and co-workers on pest control, including preventive and corrective measures.
One of the best experiences of being a NYCHA employee is when a resident comes up to you to tell you how much they appreciate you and the work that you are doing. At Marcy Houses, for instance, residents have thanked me for the rodent reduction efforts there, stating that the development is the best it’s been in years in terms of rodent control.
I enjoy applying my experience and knowledge to my daily work to make a difference for residents. And I am proud to be a NYCHA exterminator!
