NYCHA Employees Are Global Citizens

Thanks to a gift from the House of Mandela, several dozen NYCHA employees (who are also NYCHA residents) received tickets for the Global Citizen Live NYC concert that featured performances from Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo, Meek Mill, Shawn Mendes, and more. The concert was held on September 25 in Central Park.

Thirty-five pairs of tickets were provided through a randomized drawing and 15 pairs of tickets were given to resident leaders.

“I had an amazing time at the event,” said ticket winner Stephanie Arroyo, Borough Liaison in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. “It was my first time getting to see Lizzo live, so that was a plus. It made me very happy that she knew and educated the public on the history of Central Park and how it was Seneca Village; the importance of knowing our past no matter how brutal it is.”

“I love the concert and the cause,” said ticket winner Juan Goris, Housing Assistant at Douglass Houses. “‘Defeat poverty and defend the planet,’ put people before profit and everyone is a citizen of every country, forget xenophobia – hence, global citizen.”
