Meet Dorothy Ho, Operational Analyst

For Dorothy Ho, an Operational Analyst in the Department of Management and Planning, accurate data is key to performing her role and serving the needs of NYCHA residents.

Ms. Ho is part of a team which performs evaluations and operations analyses, oversees programs and initiatives, and assists with property management-related orders and contracts. Her team of nine serves every development in the city and strives to ensure that they can do their tasks as efficiently as possible.

Having previously worked in both Property Management and Procurement, Ms. Ho brings that knowledge and experience to her current position. Her 13 years of NYCHA experience has afforded her unique and comprehensive insights into both the functioning and the importance of her department.

According to Planning and Project Management Senior Director Yadhira Espinal, “Dorothy has a wealth of knowledge in many different areas and has always gone above and beyond to make Property Management’s life just a little bit easier.”

This sentiment is shared by her department’s director, Andrew Faubel, who stressed “how much Dorothy is willing to go the extra mile to help and assist field staff.”

Ms. Ho and her team provide comprehensive operational assistance to each development. This includes training development management, providing troubleshooting, as well as assisting them with their encumbrances.

Ms. Ho and her team have also helped to implement platforms which helped development staff, such as the open encumbrances report. Working with the IT Department, Ms. Ho helped simplify the encumbrances process and make it easier for developments to gain a clearer picture of their finances.

Similarly, Ms. Ho and her team collaborate with other departments so they can share updated data, as data is a critical foundation for her team’s work – and it provides information which enables staff to best serve residents.

“We have our finger on the pulse of the rhythm of each department,” Ms. Ho explained. “Whether it’s operations, budget, procurements, or accounts — we need to know it all.”

For Ms. Ho, understanding everything that is going on is key to her team’s role at NYCHA.

“Everything I learn I like to share with others, because I feel like that will help NYCHA in general – which means, at the end of the day, the residents will get help they need quicker and more efficiently.”
