HUD Secretary Fudge Meets with Residents in First Visit to NYCHA

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia Fudge visited NYCHA for the first time on December 13, meeting with residents and touring two developments in the Bronx.  

Joined by NYCHA Chair & CEO Greg Russ and Congressman Ritchie Torres, Secretary Fudge visited Patterson and Betances Houses to discuss the urgent need to transform and preserve public housing. A former Congresswoman from Ohio, Ms. Fudge was appointed HUD Secretary by President Joe Biden in March 2021.  

As part of her visit to NYCHA, Secretary Fudge met with Citywide Council of Presidents (CCOP) Chair Danny Barber and resident association leaders, as well as local advocacy groups such as the Legal Aid Society and Community Voices Heard, at the Patterson Community Center.
