Brooklyn Cyclones Celebrate NYCHA Employee Appreciation Night

NYCHA employees enjoyed a night out at the ballpark on June 26 to see the local Brooklyn Cyclones take on the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.

Celebrating “NYCHA Employee Appreciation Night” at the Cyclones’ Maimonides Park in Coney Island, Chief Executive Officer Lisa Bova-Hiatt joined fellow staff donning Cyclones hats for an evening of fun and camaraderie. The Brooklyn Cyclones Minor League Baseball team is the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets.

Kicking off NYCHA Night was Andy Destin, Administrative Community Relations Specialist in the Employee Engagement Department, who had the special opportunity to throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch. Mr. Destin was welcomed by the Cyclones’ two mascots, Sandy the Seagull and Pee-Wee.

“I would like to thank our CEO Ms. Lisa Bova-Hiatt for coming out and supporting an amazing event to celebrate our NYCHA family with the Brooklyn Cyclones,” Mr. Destin said. “It was an honor to throw out the first pitch to represent the New York City Housing Authority and it made me feel like a kid again playing Little League in Brooklyn.”

As part of appreciation night, fans were offered ticket package options, including a team hat or food and drinks.

With NYCHA colleagues cheering together from their seating section, the Cyclones took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, but were ultimately defeated 5-4 in 11 innings.
