Alternative Work Schedule Rollout Continues

Alternative Work Schedule (AWS), which started rolling out this spring, is a new way of scheduling certain front-line staff: caretakers, their supervisors, assistant resident building superintendents, and resident building superintendents work at our buildings from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, through five staggered schedules.

Phase 2 of AWS launched earlier this month, and AWS will be rolled out to all our developments by early 2020. It’s coming next to 38 consolidated developments (see below) this fall. Starting July 22, all staff (except those who work at AWS phases 1-3 developments) can visit this link to indicate their preference for working an AWS schedule at one of the 38 phase 3 consolidations.

Click here for more details about the schedules and benefits, which include a one-time taxable bonus of $1,500 for current staff and a shift differential for weekend hours worked as part of certain schedules. If you have any questions about AWS, you can speak with your supervisor, call AskHR at 212-306-8000, or send an email to AWS@nycha.nyc.gov.
