Meet the EHS Elevator Oversight Team (EOT)
NYCHA’s Environmental Health and Safety Department’s (EHS) Elevator Oversight Team (EOT) has extensive knowledge about the maintenance, repair, and inspection of passenger elevators as well as regulations and safety requirements related to elevators.
The EOT ensures that NYCHA’s Elevator Service and Repair Department (ESRD) is providing safe and reliable elevator operations for NYCHA residents and employees by conducting various inspections to verify compliance with regulations and safety mandates. The EOT identifies safety issues as well as factors that may affect the quality of service provided to NYCHA residents.
When an elevator has an excessive number of unplanned outages in a 30-day period, the team will analyze the associated work orders and inspect the elevator system to determine the reason for the outages. Based on its findings, the team provides recommendations to ESRD to improve elevator service at the location.
