Supply Management and Procurement Hosts Networking Event for Vendor Pre-Qualified Lists

In celebration of National Small Business Month, NYCHA’s Supply Management and Procurement Department (SMP) hosted an outreach event on May 2 for Section 3 business concerns (S3BC) and Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE).

“Break Into Action with NYCHA – A Section 3 and M/WBE Event” was held at the Borough of Manhattan Community College’s Fiterman Hall. The event was intended to introduce S3BCs and M/WBEs to NYCHA’s current and upcoming Pre-Qualified Lists for skilled trades services across the Authority, as well as to familiarize these vendors with the process of doing business with NYCHA.

More than 100 representatives from M/WBE and S3BC firms in the city attended the event, where they had the opportunity to connect with technical experts from NYCHA’s Office of the Chief Operating Officer. In addition, vendors received information about NYCHA’s procurement opportunities and learned about the benefits of being on Pre-Qualified Lists at NYCHA, which have helped to streamline the procurement process.

Vendors also had the opportunity to obtain resources from several NYCHA departments, including Procurement, Vendor Diversity, the Office of Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES), and Asset and Capital Management. The NYC Department of Small Business Services was also in attendance to provide support.

SMP plans to host another networking event before the end of the year to help increase NYCHA contracting opportunities for M/WBEs and S3BCs.
