Providing Excellent Service to Residents
We’re periodically featuring the hardworking men and women who provide excellent service to residents, including through the NYCHA Cares and weekend maintenance work order blitz initiatives. Learn more about how we’re improving residents’ homes and becoming a better landlord through their perspective. In this installment, meet Robert Rodriguez, a Maintenance Worker since 2010:
We go to apartments that are assigned to us as part of the work order blitzes and complete all repairs as needed. Residents will tell us as well if they need any repairs. As a maintenance worker, I will complete an apartment inspection and make repairs in the apartment, including those related to electrical, plumbing, safety equipment, and windows.
We’re getting a lot of work done. A lot of times the residents have been dealing with these issues for months or even years. When we come in, they may be skeptical. But when they actually see us doing the work, they’re happy and appreciative. They see their apartment being transformed into a fresh, new apartment in a matter of days. We leave them feeling good about their home. I take pride in my work and I’m happy to be part of the transformation. We work together as a team, doing the best we can for residents, and we get the job done.
