Participate in the NYC Speaks Ideas Challenge

Dear City Employee,

Thank you to everyone who supported the first phase of NYC Speaks, the largest policy survey ever to be completed in NYC! With your support, we received 62,000 responses – of which a remarkable 16,000 responses came from City workers. After successfully completing Phase 1 of the initiative, we are excited to roll out phase 2: Community Conversations and the City Staff Ideas Challenge.

As City employees, you have unique expertise on how our government can help NYC communities thrive. We want to hear your best and brightest ideas for actions the new administration can take in each of the issue areas covered in the survey. Semi-finalists will be determined by a committee based on the criteria identified on the challenge site, with the potential for winning idea(s) to also get picked up as pilots or new/improved programs.

Here’s how you can ensure your voice is heard:

  • Create an Account: Go to participate.nyc.gov and click “Login in with NYC.ID” under the “create an account” button on the top right corner. Go here for more detailed directions.
  • Participate: Share your ideas, comment on ideas from your coworkers, and up-vote the ideas you like best between April 18 – May 1 at nycspeaks.org/ideas.
  • Vote: Semi-finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to flesh out their proposals further with assistance from the Civic Service Design Studio. All City staff will have the opportunity to vote on the winning idea later in May.

Please send any questions to participate@civicengagement.nyc.gov.

Thank you for everything you do for our city!

In partnership,

Sheena Wright
Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives
