NYCHA’s Capital Projects Roundup: April
In April, NYCHA’s Capital Projects Division (CPD) completed security camera installations, lighting upgrades, and exterior building restoration in the Bronx and Manhattan as part of its work to provide enhanced services for residents and employees.
CPD oversees more than $1 billion in construction projects across the Authority’s portfolio that are funded with federal, State, and City investments. The department works to preserve and modernize public housing for NYCHA residents through professional design and construction services that are carried out efficiently and with the highest degree of safety and quality.
On April 5, CPD finished installing a new network of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Marble Hill Houses in the Bronx. As part of the security network, crews installed central monitoring systems, hardware and software for CCTV operations, a new intercommunications system, as well as upgraded entrance doors at the development, where over 3,100 residents live. The approximately $75,000 project was funded by the City.
At King Towers in Manhattan, CPD completed a $250,000 project to install enhanced lighting across the property, including new LED light fixtures and upgraded electrical panels. The work consisted of trenching, new conduits, site restoration, and other related activities. A federal grant funded the project at the development, which is home to more than 2,900 residents.
Also in April, Twin Parks East Houses in the Bronx received exterior restoration, including concrete repairs, the replacement of railings for all apartment balconies, and the removal of construction sidewalk sheds, thanks to a nearly $8.9 million federally funded project. The work was performed as a result of Local Law 11, also known as the Facade Inspection & Safety Program. More than 230 residents call Twin Parks East home.
