NYCHA Named Finalist for Development Award

Two of NYCHA’s real estate development projects were recently named finalists for the ULI New York Awards for Excellence in Development.

Urban Land Institute (ULI) is an international organization of real estate and urban development professionals. Every year, the Awards for Excellence in Development recognizes development projects throughout New York State that best demonstrate the organization’s mission of shaping the future of the built environment to positively impact communities.

Baychester & Murphy Houses in the Bronx is a finalist for Excellence in Repositioning or Redevelopment. Baychester (441 apartments in 11 buildings) and Murphy Houses (281 apartments in 2 buildings) were one of the first transactions to be converted through NYCHA’s Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. In addition to major upgrades in their apartments and the grounds of the buildings, residents received employment and economic opportunities, new community spaces, and on-site community programs to empower them and improve their quality of life.
