NYCHA Hosts Baby Supplies Giveaway in the Bronx

On July 23, NYCHA’s Health Initiatives team – in collaboration with 30 partners such as the NYPD, Little Essentials, Bronx Cares, and Council Member Althea V. Stevens – organized a giveaway of baby and child essential items at Mullaly Park in the Bronx. Almost 500 residents and community members who are expecting or have a new baby joined the community baby shower and received diapers, wipes, sippy cups, books, baby toys, and more. In addition, raffle winners got car seats, pack n’ plays, cribs, and baby electronics. Families also enjoyed refreshments and fun activities. The youngest attendee was a 1-week-old baby.

The special day is part of NYCHA’s work to partner with organizations that support expecting families. The next baby shower event will take place on August 27 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Douglass Houses in Manhattan. Register here to attend!

You can also let NYCHA know if your family is expecting through the Authority’s Self-Service Portal. Sharing this information will help NYCHA create safer homes for children and keep you up to date with information and available resources.
