NYCHA Employee Elected Treasurer of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association

Raquel Miranda, Agency Attorney in NYCHA’s Law Department, was recently elected Treasurer of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA).

The BWBA was established more than a century ago by nine women lawyers to achieve equality, diversity, fairness, and opportunities for women. It is affiliated with the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York and has spearheaded countless advances for women in their law careers. The members are women in various law-related positions in Brooklyn and throughout the city.

Ms. Miranda has been a NYCHA employee since 2007. She joined the BWBA five years ago as Committee Chair for Membership and has been an active member ever since. In 2017, she became a member of the Board of Directors and was elected Treasurer in June 2022.

Ms. Miranda said the new role brings more responsibility. She works for the BWBA during her after-work hours and believes in the association’s mission to help women succeed in their careers: “I’ve always done volunteer work in my free time, and it’s not difficult to combine my NYCHA and BWBA positions. I love seeing women find new career opportunities through networking, internships, and jobs.”
