Making a Difference for Residents

Meet Dyni Joseph, Housing Assistant for Queens and Staten Island

We’re periodically featuring the hardworking staff members who provide excellent service to residents. Learn more about how we’re improving residents’ homes and becoming a better landlord through their perspective. In this installment, meet Dyni Joseph, Housing Assistant for Queens and Staten Island, who assists residents with a range of matters and helps ensure that their developments operate smoothly.

For the last 10 years, Ms. Joseph has been managing not only NYCHA developments but also her own big family: She has 4 children under the age of 12, whom she’s been assisting with remote learning during the pandemic.

According to Property Manager Thelma Lambert‑Watkins: “Ms. Joseph works hard every day. During this stressful time of dealing with COVID-19, she was the first one to report back to work. She is always willing to help to cover when the office is short of housing assistants. It is a pleasure to have her on our team.”

“I help residents with their rental applications, complete their move-out process, assist them with recertification and transfer procedures, and deal with everyday requests,” Ms. Joseph explained.

“It has been very difficult to coordinate work and family life during the pandemic. Fortunately, NYCHA has rotating reporting schedules that allowed me to work from home on alternate days. And when I think about other people who got really affected by COVID-19, who lost family members, who lost their jobs, I realize I am in a good position. That makes me more committed to my mission to help NYCHA residents.”

“NYCHA is not just a workplace, it is a family. We work together, support each other, and always believe in helping residents in every way we can.”
