EVP for Real Estate Jonathan Gouveia Receives Award from Citizens Housing & Planning Council
In April, NYCHA’s Executive Vice President for Real Estate Development Jonathan Gouveia was recognized for his work on NYCHA’s PACT program by the Citizens Housing & Planning Council (CHPC) at the organization’s 64th annual luncheon.
CHPC is a non-profit organization that focuses on housing and planning policy, and its work has helped shape housing policy in New York City for more than 80 years. Mr. Gouveia received the organization’s “Impact Award for Planning”; for Mr. Gouveia’s commitment to resident-centered planning and choice, noting, “When done properly, public-private partnerships unite all parties around shared objectives and enable each to contribute effectively to achieving them. The process innovations Jonathan has led have not only delivered improved quality of life more quickly to thousands of NYCHA residents, they have also paved the way for resident partnership on a diverse range of future PACT projects to address deep and widely ranging needs. We are thrilled to award Jonathan the Impact for Planning Award and to celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of the PACT program so far.”
Mr. Gouveia joined NYCHA in 2019 and leads the efforts to generate more than $16 billion in capital investment for the Authority’s portfolio. Under his leadership, the Real Estate Development Department has achieved notable milestones, including the completion of 15 public-partnerships that will bring almost $4.8 billion in comprehensive repairs and upgrades to about 19,000 apartments, as well as another nearly 20,000 apartments on track to receive $8 billion in capital investment.
Reflecting on the award, Mr. Gouveia said: “Since its inception, the NYCHA PACT program has transformed the lives of thousands of public housing residents, providing them with improved living conditions and an enhanced quality of life. I am proud to join the Citizens Housing and Planning Council in recognizing the successes of this program, and am grateful to work in partnership with so many across the five boroughs as we collectively preserve and invest in affordable housing that will serve generations of New Yorkers to come. I thank CHPC and greatly appreciate this honor.”
