Cindy Anderson Wins NYC IT Leadership Inspirational Leader Award
Congratulations to Cindy Anderson, NYCHA’s Vice President of IT Service Management, for winning a 2023 New York City IT Leadership Inspirational Leader Award. The award honors a motivational leader who “brings out the best in others through inspiration, compassion, mentorship, and exemplary performance.”
She was presented with the award in June at the NYC IT Leadership Forum, an event that brings together technology leaders to collaborate on current and future issues related to digital government.
Ms. Anderson leads the Business Client Services, Desktop & Device Management, and IT Customer Service Excellence teams in IT Service Management. These teams foster stronger relationships between the IT department and other departments across NYCHA, providing first-level support for technology used by staff and residents through the service desk and hardware support technicians, and coordinating communications around upcoming IT changes, maintenance, or unplanned disruptions. Before joining NYCHA in 2021, Ms. Anderson spent more than 20 years in the private sector, managing and training support teams and implementing technology solutions in higher education, telecommunications, and energy.
She was nominated for the award by Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Patti Bayross. In her nomination letter, Ms. Bayross wrote: “In terms of a leader who motivates others to be the best that they can be, Cindy is the best. What sets her apart from others is her ability to do this not only for the people who work for her, but for others throughout the organization. Cindy is a mentor — she volunteered to be part of NYCHA’s formal mentor program and insists on going out to the development to meet with her mentee at their location to make sure she understands that environment…Cindy is the inspirational leader everyone dreams of having at least once throughout the course of their career. I consider myself lucky to work alongside, and learn from, her every day.”
“I was surprised and humbled to be nominated for and to win this award,” Ms. Anderson said. “I am very proud of the work my team does, as well as my colleagues throughout NYCHA, and I am inspired every day by the dedication, resiliency, and focus on customer service that I see here. My favorite part of leading a team is being in a position to help others develop and grow, and I hope that I can continue to inspire others to be the best version of themselves.”
