Second Saturday Work Order Blitz
NYCHA closed more than 950 maintenance work order requests in one day at five developments in its second Saturday blitz, as part of the Authority’s proactive initiative to eliminate repair backlogs and effectively engage and assist residents. NYCHA will continue to hold its Saturday blitz effort twice a month to address residents’ repair work order backlogs at developments citywide.
While NYCHA developments have limited staffing during most weekends, Sedgwick Houses in the Bronx, Linden Houses and Sheepshead-Nostrand Houses in Brooklyn, Grant Houses in Manhattan, and Beach 41st Street Houses in Queens had regular and extra staff onsite from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15. Housing Assistants were also at the respective management offices to help residents with their annual recertifications.
These work orders do not include emergency health and safety repairs, which are addressed immediately by the Authority.
“Since joining NYCHA nine months ago, my primary concern has been to provide repairs and address the needs of our residents across the five boroughs as quickly as possible,” said General Manager Vito Mustaciuolo. “This initiative has been a huge success over the past two weeks, and we will continue to provide this service twice a month to our residents so that they can see and experience real improvements they deserve. Efforts like this are just the beginning as we continue to use innovative solutions to serve our residents and be a better landlord.”
