Older Adults Master Computer Class
On March 20, 10 older adults graduated from the “Beyond Basics” computer class at the Carter Burden/Lehman Village Senior Program at NYCHA’s Lehman Village development in East Harlem. The class was taught in English and Spanish by Older Adults Technology Services (OATS).
Class participants learned how to use e-mail and social media and do shopping online on computers donated to the senior center by Macquarie Group.
Graduate Carmen Tanco said: “It’s something beautiful. I learned a lot, because I didn’t know e-mail – this was my first experience.” When asked what she knows now, Ms. Tanco said, “I know everything!”
The Lehman Village Senior Program, part of the Carter Burden Network, promotes the well-being of seniors through services, advocacy, arts and culture, and volunteer programs in New York City.
