NYCHA Changemakers: Putting Our Core Values to Work
As part of NYCHA’s celebration of Customer Service Week, an email from Mayor Bill de Blasio introduced the new Changemakers campaign.
“As NYCHA’s Customer Service Week comes to a close, I am proud to announce the launch of the NYCHA Changemakers campaign, which showcases NYCHA employees who are guided by NYCHA’s core values to create meaningful, sustainable change in every aspect of their work. The first poster features NYCHA employees who embody our goal of providing quality customer service every day.”
Teamsters 237 President Greg Floyd also sent along a message to NYCHA staff as part of Customer Service Week:
Dear NYCHA members and colleagues,
As President of Local Teamsters 237, I want to thank you for your service. You make our City run. From ensuring building envelopes are waterproof and assisting residents with annual re-certifications to cleaning developments and creating new technology that improves service times, you guarantee that the one in 14 New Yorkers who calls NYCHA home gets great customer service.
Your work is both rewarding and stressful. To do your best job, you need to make sure you take care of yourself. Here are a few tips for managing stress in the workplace:
- Create a schedule: Having a daily schedule and keeping track of your responsibilities can help you stay on top of your tasks.
- Prioritize your work: Work with your supervisor on identifying tasks in order of importance.
- Take a break: Stepping away from your work for a few minutes a day can help you recharge.
- Connect with others: Sharing your thoughts with friends, co-workers, or your supervisor can help alleviate stressors. If you need more help, contact the Employee Assistance Program at (212) 306-7660 or eap@olr.nyc.gov.
- Develop good habits: Sleeping eight hours each night, eating healthy foods, and moderate physical exercise several times a week will help keep your body strong and healthy and minimize the impact of stress.
Stay strong!
