NEW HIRES – REQUIREMENT OF VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 VIRUS

As of August 16, 2021, all new hires must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, unless they have been granted a reasonable accommodation for religion or disability.  If you are offered NYCHA employment, this requirement must be met by your date of hire, unless a reasonable accommodation for exemption is received and approved by NYCHA.

Q: I am a job applicant.  Where can I get vaccinated?
A: Vaccination is widely available and provided at no cost for all New Yorkers. Please go to https://vax4nyc.nyc.gov, call 1-877-VAX-4NYC, or visit nyc.gov/vaccinefinder to find a vaccination site near you.

Q: What constitutes proof of vaccination?
A: Proof must be:

  • An official CDC card or other government-issued record bearing the employee’s name and date(s) of vaccine administration, either viewed in person or via a photograph;
  • An Excelsior Pass issued by the State of New York;
  • The NYC COVID SAFE app that clearly displays an image of the CDC or other government-issued card with the above noted requirements. The NYC COVID SAFE app can be downloaded for Apple or Android (or by searching “NYC COVID Safe” on Apple app store or Google Play store).

Q: I am a job applicant and vaccinated within NYC.  I want to show proof of vaccination for COVID.  How can I download the NYC COVID SAFE app?
A: The NYC COVID SAFE app for Apple or Android phones can be downloaded for Apple or Android here (or by searching “NYC COVID Safe” in the Apple app store or Google Play store). 

Q: Will there be medical or religious accommodations in regard to this requirement?
