Meet David Rohde, NYCHA’s Senior VP for Legal Affairs & Managing Attorney
If you ask an attorney for their opinion, don’t be surprised if they have a “law-centric” response. “The law touches on every aspect of what we do at NYCHA. From purchasing to public hearings, and from capital initiatives to providing testimony on everything from safety to RAD/PACT, the Law Department is involved in everything NYCHA does,” said David Rohde, NYCHA’s new Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs & Managing Attorney. Mr. Rhode, who joined NYCHA in September 2020, supports both the Chair and General Manager in the mission to fundamentally transform NYCHA and reimagine the ways NYCHA can continue to serve its residents. Working closely with NYCHA’s General Counsel, Lisa Bova-Hiatt, Mr. Rohde is committed to promoting innovation and transparency as a means for empowering NYCHA residents.
With an extensive background in courtroom litigation, information governance, international data privacy, and technology policy/procurement solutions, Mr. Rohde has led the redesign of management and process frameworks in the past, as Senior Director of Consulting Services at Epiq, a global technology-enabled services leader catering to the legal industry and corporations. In that role, he helped develop operational reforms in large and complex organizations, law departments, and government entities by deploying technology-enabled solutions.
He is also well-acquainted with public service, having served as Senior Counsel and Deputy Chief Information Officer at the NYC Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel. In his tenure at the Corporation Counsel’s Office, Mr. Rohde was a principal legal, policy, and management advisor on law and technology issues to the nation’s largest governmental law department outside of the U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Rohde brings that experience and a truly data-driven approach to the management of NYCHA’s Law Department and its many initiatives.
Mr. Rohde is looking forward to helping facilitate NYCHA’s Transformation Plan and Blueprint for Change while continuing to meet the needs of NYCHA, its Law Department, and NYCHA’s 400,000 residents.
“I am thrilled to be working with so many talented and capable employees at NYCHA, and I look forward to NYCHA’s future under Chair Russ’s leadership.”
