Free Masks Distributed at Baruch Houses
New York City continues to make progress during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now in Phase III of reopening. However, it’s still important for New Yorkers to be safe and cautious by practicing good hand hygiene, maintaining social distance, and wearing a mask or face covering that covers both the nose and mouth.
NYCHA is helping ensure residents have the face coverings they need to keep themselves and their neighbors safe. On July 7, free masks were distributed to residents of Baruch Houses and Baruch Houses Addition (a development for older adults) in Manhattan.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., NYCHA staff were stationed at three locations throughout the developments to distribute free masks to residents. Each resident who visited the tables received two masks.
The masks were provided by New York City Emergency Management. A similar mask distribution was also held at Hylan Houses in Brooklyn, and NYCHA is planning future mask distributions at additional developments.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, free masks have been distributed to NYCHA residents throughout the city, with masks donated by the City, state, and non-profit and for-profit organizations. Residents may also visit one of the Department of Education’s Grab & Go meal sites to pick up a face covering.
