Committed to Service
Charisse Jamroz, a Project Manager in Enterprise Technology, has been selected by City & State as one of the 10 veterans the publication has chosen to honor for their continued service to New York City. An active Army reservist since 1991, she is currently assigned to the Soldier Support Institute, where she develops training courses that prepare soldiers to advance in rank. In addition to the monthly required weekend of service, she dedicates a significant amount of time to mentoring soldiers and supporting their instructors who rely on her for classroom and career guidance.
At NYCHA, she has made a wide array of information, programs, and services more easily available to NYCHA’s customers through a variety of computer applications and an enhanced self-service web presence. Self-service “apps” enable public housing and Section 8 applicants to file applications online. Other apps enable public housing residents to file and monitor maintenance and repair requests and connect them to financial literacy, adult education, job training, and job placement resources. And Charisse’s data administration work for NYCHA’s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) unit has helped house homeless veterans.
