NYCHA Releases Inaugural 2024 Resident Initiatives Annual Report
Highlights Program Accomplishments in Economic Empowerment and Building Health
NYCHA has released its inaugural 2024 Resident Initiatives Annual Report, showcasing a year of impactful programs aimed at supporting residents through expanded economic mobility, financial empowerment, preventive health resources, and capacity building.
The Office of the Senior Director of Resident Initiatives (Resident Initiatives) sits within the Department of Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives, overseeing three key areas:
- Grants Administration: In 2024, Resident Initiatives helped secure $12.58 million to support NYCHA operations and resident programs.
- Office of Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES): is charged with developing and implementing programs, policies, and collaborations to help residents measurably increase their income and assets, through a focus on employment and advancement, adult education and training, financial capability and asset building, and resident business development. Residents who want to learn about economic opportunity services near them, get connected to a REES partner, or sign up for a REES Information Session should visit OpportunityNYCHA.org or call the REES Hotline at (718) 289-8100.
- Office of Resident Health Initiatives (RHI): RHI builds resident health and advances health equity through innovation and cross-system collaboration. The department leads and critically supports a set of strategic initiatives that connect residents to preventive health resources, create healthier indoor environments, and build capacity for resident leadership in health.
