Kilsys Payamps-Roure, Special Assistant to NYCHA Chair and CEO Shola Olatoye, was honored by the New York City Council during its celebration of Dominican Republic Independence Day on  February 23. About 200 people joined in the festivities at the City Council, which featured performances by Shacara McLaurin, who sang the National Anthem, the P.S. 257 Chorus, and children’s dance troupe La Raza.

The City Council’s Proclamation presented to Kilsys reads: “The Council of the City of New York gratefully honors Kilsys Payamps-Roure for her outstanding service and contributions to our community.”

Kilsys was recognized for her commitment to  Community League of the Heights, a community-based organization that provides Washington Heights residents with services related to decent affordable housing, education, health, youth  services and neighborhood improvement.
