Waldina Benedith, a Section 8 voucher holder in Brooklyn, was so pleased with her recent experience using one of NYCHA’s Digital Vans that she took the time to send NYCHA an email praising the van’s operator, Malin Bey:
This morning I found out about the Digital Van through NYCHA’s website, including its location on Warren Street. I went there around noon, and the van’s driver was there, and he was very professional. After I explained the reason for my visit, he provided me with a computer and helped me fill out my tax info for my new job. He made me feel so comfortable and happy, because he showed me that he was there to help. Thank you very much, Mr. Malin.
NYCHA’s three Digital Vans – outfitted with laptops, a printer/scanner, Wi-Fi, and a friendly and knowledgeable instructor – travel to residents’ doorsteps to provide them with the online services and technology they need to succeed. Residents can get help with using a computer, accessing MyNYCHA, and completing their annual recertifications online. They can also check their email, create resumes, search and apply for jobs, do schoolwork, and stay in touch with family and friends through social media.
